Upanayana Dates Muhurthams

Yagnopaveetha Dharana or Upnayanam Sanskar is a sacred ritual that is performed in the Hindu community. It is an important ritual that is carried out in the childhood and adolescence of the child. Also referred to as Janeu Sanskar, the Upanayana ceremony holds the tenth position among the sixteen Sanskar that are considered mandatory in the Hindu Scriptures. Thus, one should always perform the Upanayanam ceremony in an auspicious Upanayanam muhurtham dates.  Ask Muhurat to the Astrologer.

What is Upanayana Sanskar?

As per Hindu tradition, Upanayana Sanskar is an important Sanskar in a man’s life. In the Upanayana Sanskar ceremony, the boy is given a Janeu that is worn for the whole life. The Janeu of Upnayana Sanskar is a sacred white-colored thread that is created by keeping three threads together. It is worn from the left shoulder to the right crossing the chest. Upanayana Sanskar of the child signifies that he is ready to receive formal education and accept the Guru as a student. In the Vedic age, the child was sent to Gurukuls to acquire formal education from a Guru. Thus, it was necessary to commemorate Upanayana Sanskar before the child is sent to Gurukul.

Best Upanayanam Muhurtham

The right time for Upanayana Ceremony is considered between adolescence and youth. Moreover, Hindu scriptures suggest that the Upanayana ceremony should be performed before the age of eight for a Brahmin, eleven for a Kshatriya and thirteen for a Vaishya child. Importantly, the Janeu Sanskar should be done before the marriage of the child in any case.  Ask an Astrologer for Best Muhurat.

2021 Upanayana Muhurat: Significance of Upanayanam Sanskar

Religious Significance

According to Hindu scriptures, there is no meaning to receive education, invest in the trade, or indulge in any religious practice without Upanayanam or Janeyu Sanskar. The commemoration of the Upanayana ceremony frees the child from the sins of the previous birth and offers a second birth. Also, Upanayana Sanskar provides an individual the right to perform Yajna. That is why it is also referred to as Yagyopaveet Sanskar.

Scientific Significance

Scientifically, there are various benefits of Upanayana Sanskar. Wearing Janeu is considered very beneficial for controlling blood pressure and heart problems. As the Janeu moves past the heart, it reduces the possibility of cardiac issues. According to medical science, a nerve at the back of a person passes through the right shoulder and moves until the waist. This nerve is considered important to keep a check over anger and lust. Wearing Janeu through the right shoulder till one’s waist keeps a check over the vices and alleviates the negative thoughts. It also improves life expectancy and increases inner strength and wisdom.

Astrological Significance

Upanayana Sanskar also has great astrological significance. As per astrologers, Janeu worn by the individual represents Navgraha or the nine planets of the solar system. When a person acquires Janeu Sanskar on an auspicious Upanayanam date or Upanayanam muhurat under all the proper Hindu rituals, then the native receives the blessings of all the nine planets. Janeu pacifies the Kundali Dosha and helps in attracting positive cosmic energies. The white color of Janeu is associated with Venus and thus brings beauty, love and romance to life. While the Yellow color associated with Jupiter enhances its positive energy and helps in gaining knowledge, finding good mentorship and performing good deeds.
