Navami Homa - Rituals, Importance and Significance
Navami Homa is regarded as one of the most significant and vital rituals which is performed during Durga Puja and Navratri festival. The ritual is also popular by its other names Chandi Homan and Chandi Homa. The devotees observe the Navami Homa in order to please Goddess Durga and to get bestowed with her blessings for good fortune, good health, victory and to get rid off all kinds of obstacles in life.
When do we observe Navami Homa?
The Navami Homa is performed during the daytime on the eve of Durga Puja. According to the Hindu mythology if Navami Homa is performed at night then it is not auspicious and fruitful. Therefore, the ritual is observed during day time while Navami Tithi is about to come. The ritual of Navami Homa can be initiated at any time during Ashtami and is required to finish at any time period during Navami Tithi. Navami Homa during the eve of Durga Puja should be done after the completion of Navami Puja.
How do we observe Navami Homa?
The devotees usually observe Navami Homa by reciting 700 verses from Durga Saptashati and also on every verse Aahuti is done. An individual requires at least a time period of two to three hours for performing the ritual of Navami Homa in a ritualistic way.
